RAIN AND FIRE BY OLUWABUNMI ADEOGUN

In the olden days, rain and fire both competed to marry a particular young pretty lady named Ojuolape. This competition was so tough that everybody wondered whose wife ojuolape would be. On the wedding day, the bride was brought out to the open field. The elders said whoever is more powerful out of the two suitors would have this young lady as a bride.
Fire was the first to start exhibiting his prowess, he carried Ojuolape and was about to take her away. Rain unleashed his anger and started fighting with fire. Ojuolape started singing thus:
Be careful O fire,
O red fire.
Be careful of the black but powerful rain. Instead of marrying you, o fire, I would rather marry rain. Rain is the husband of vegetation,
Rain is the farmers’ friend.
Suddenly, rain continued the fight with a heavy down pour of water. It killed fire completely and carried Ojuolape away.
This is why rain is more powerful than fire.
